The honest answer: it depends on what is growing on the land, the terrain, and what finish you want. But "it depends" does not help you budget, so here are the ranges most Georgia landowners actually see quoted across the industry.
Typical per-acre ranges in Georgia
- Light brush and underbrush mulching: roughly $800 to $2,000+ per acre. Privet, briars, saplings up to a few inches thick.
- Standard forestry mulching: roughly $1,500 to $3,500+ per acre. Mixed brush and small trees, the most common condition for overgrown NWGA acreage.
- Heavy clearing with grubbing and hauling: roughly $3,000 to $6,000+ per acre. Larger trees taken down, stumps out, debris hauled or burned, land left ready for dirt work.
These are market ranges, not our price sheet, and the plus sign is there for a reason: prices vary based on size, complexity, and extenuating factors like terrain, access, and debris handling. Every property is different, which is why anyone quoting you a firm number without seeing the land is guessing with your money. What actually moves the price
- Density and size of growth. Grinding 2 inch privet is fast. Working through a stand of 8 inch sweetgums is not.
- Terrain and access. Slopes, wet ground, rock, and tight gates slow production. Slow production is what you are really paying for.
- The finish you want. Mulched and walkable costs less than grubbed, root-raked, and pad-ready.
- Acreage. Mobilization is fixed, so more acres almost always means a lower per-acre price.
- Debris handling. Mulching leaves material in place. Hauling and burning add real cost.
Why mulching usually wins on price
Traditional clearing pushes everything into piles, then you pay again to burn or haul them. Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees where they stand. One machine, one pass, no piles, and the mulch layer helps control erosion on Georgia red clay.
Budgeting a bigger job
Clearing 10, 20, or 50 acres? The math changes in your favor per acre, and the planning matters more. We cover that in large-acreage land clearing across Georgia.
